As a part of the Town of Garner’s initiated Food drive, Shiny Stars and leads across multiple communities and volunteers strived to provide hundreds of pounds of food to the families impacted due to a lapse in SNAP benefits due to the Government shutdown.

The Shiny Stars Food Drive was a community-focused initiative designed to support local families experiencing food insecurity while strengthening connections across our community. Rooted in compassion and service, the effort brought together neighbors, volunteers, and supporters with a shared goal of helping families meet an essential need.

Through the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers, Shiny Stars collected and distributed approximately 900–1,000 pounds of food—nearly one and a half truckloads—to families in need. From pantry staples to everyday necessities, each contribution helped ease immediate challenges while offering reassurance that the community cares. The food drive was not only about providing food; it was about preserving dignity, extending kindness, and offering hope during difficult times.

This initiative highlighted the power of collective action. Community members stepped forward to donate, organize supplies, and assist with distribution, demonstrating how meaningful impact can be achieved when people unite around a shared purpose. The scale of the food collected reflected the generosity of the community and the trust placed in Shiny Stars to steward resources responsibly.

The Food Drive reflects Shiny Stars’ broader mission to uplift families and create positive, tangible impact at the local level. It stands as a strong example of how grassroots, community-driven efforts can address immediate needs while fostering a culture of care and responsibility.

As Shiny Stars continues its work, this Food Drive serves as a reminder that compassion in action—multiplied by community—can create lasting change.
